JUROR ACCOMMODATIONS/COURT INFORMATION
The following information is intended to answer general questions regarding your first day of serving jury duty at the New Britain Superior Courthouse. Additional information may be obtained in the Jury Service Handbook Your Guide To Jury Service - (PDF)
ATTENDANCE |
First day jurors must sign in upon entering the jury room. Please arrive by the time indicated on your reminder notice. |
JUROR PARKING |

INDIVIDUALS WITH DISABILITIES |
If you have a disability and need a reasonable accommodation, please call 1-800-842-8175, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., and speak with a customer service representative. If you have a hearing related disability and require assistance, please dial 711. You may also email any request to jury.administration@jud.ct.gov |
JUROR STICKERS |
Juror stickers will be distributed to you upon arrival. Stickers must be worn at all times while you are in or about the courthouse. Stickers must be returned to the Jury Service Assistant (JSA) before leaving the courthouse at the end of the day. |
COURTHOUSE |
Room 400 of the fourth floor of the New Britain Superior Court is for jurors. Jurors must avoid all other areas of the courthouse including courtrooms and juror waiting rooms unless you are assigned to them. |
COFFEE / TEA |
Coffee (regular and decaf) and tea (regular and decaf) is provided free of charge |
ATM | There is an ATM located in the first floor lobby. |
SMOKING |
Smoking is allowed outside of the building (50 feet from the entrance). Jurors must check with the Jury Clerk before going out to smoke. |
QUIET LOUNGE |
A quiet lounge is available to jurors in the jury area. |
ELEVATORS |
Jurors are allowed to use the elevator |
STAIRWAY |
Jurors are allowed to use the stairway. |
RESTROOMS |
Restrooms are located in the jury room. |
TELEVISIONS |
All programs are available for your viewing except for the news. Please change the channel if news comes on. |
PUBLIC PAY TELEPHONES |
Pay telephones are not available. A telephone for local calls only is available in the jury room. |
LUNCH |
Lunch is between 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. Lunch will be announced by the JSA. A listing of area food locations is available. If you choose to bring a lunch, there is a refrigerator and a microwave. As a reminder, only plastic knives, forks and spoons are allowed in the courthouse. |
CAFE |
A cafe is located on the second floor of the courthouse. Jurors must check with the Jury Clerk before going to the cafe except during lunch. Credit cards and cash accepted. No checks. |
CHANGE MACHINE |
We DO NOT have a change machine. |
VENDING MACHINES |
Vending machines are located in the jury area. There is a soda and snack machine. PLEASE BRING CHANGE |
CELL PHONES AND OTHER ELECTRONIC DEVICES |
Please see the Chief Court Administrator's press release regarding electronics. Cell phones with digital cameras are allowed. |
INTERNET ACCESS |
Internet access is NOT available in the Jury Assembly rooms. Internet access is available at the Court Service Centers. Availability is limited. WI-FI is NOT available |
BEEPERS/RADIO DEVICES, ETC. |
Jurors may not bring disruptive items into the courthouse. A disruptive item includes, but is not limited to, the following: a radio, boom box, portable television, compact disc player/recorder, cassette player/recorder. If you have any questions regarding what to bring, please contact Jury Administration. |
LAPTOPS | Laptops are allowed. Special Note: The jury assembly room is not equipped with electrical outlets. Also, the jury assembly room is not locked during regular business hours. |
ATTENDANCE CERTIFICATES |
Jurors receiving credit for serving will be mailed a Certificate of Recognition of Juror Service. |
