Despite nor’easter after nor’easter, 2018 was a record year for the Judicial Branch’s participation in Read Across America, a national celebration of reading held on Dr. Seuss’s birthday, March 2. Between the end of February and the end of March, 74 judges from the Supreme, Appellate and Superior Courts visited 79 different elementary schools throughout the state. Besides reading to nearly 5,300 students overall, the judges also taught the children about the Judicial Branch.
“Today was great,” one teacher said. “[The judge] was excellent, great with the students and we would love for him to return to our school. The students loved the experience and seemed eager for him to stay longer.”
