Director of Financial Services - Probate

The Office of the Probate Court Administrator is seeking a qualified candidate for the Director of Financial Services position to manage the staff and operations of the Financial Services Department. The position reports to the Probate Court Administrator and provides support to the Probate Courts.

The Director of Financial Services will be responsible for the management of staff performing a full range of tasks in the following areas: Budgeting, strategic planning, forecasting, revenue reporting, general accounting, accounts payable, payroll, time and attendance reporting for court staff, employee benefits, human resource management, and financial reviews at Probate Courts.


The preferred candidate will have considerable knowledge of accounting principles and practices, extensive knowledge in process improvement, cost reduction and internal controls, strong interpersonal skills, and excellent verbal and written communication skills including presentations in large group settings. CPA or MBA preferred, but not required.


Minimum Qualifications


General Experience:  Eleven years of professional experience in general accounting, budget analysis or financial management with budgetary responsibility.Two years of the General Experience must have included responsibility for supervising professional staff.


Substitutions Allowed:

  1. College training may be substituted for the General Experience on the basis of fifteen (15) semester hours equaling one-half (1/2) year of experience to a maximum of four (4) years for a Bachelor's degree.

  2. A Master's degree in Accounting or certification as a Public Accountant or Internal Auditor may be substituted for one (1) additional year of the General Experience.

  

Special Requirement:  Required to have a valid motor vehicle operator’s license and a motor vehicle available for daily use.

  

Annual salary is $114,694 with full State of Connecticut benefits.
