At its January 26, 2024, regular meeting, the Connecticut Bar Examining Committee voted to adopt the NextGen bar examination as of the July 2026 exam administration. For more information on the NextGen exam, please see https://nextgenbarexam.ncbex.org/.


Important Information Regarding the February 2025 Connecticut Bar Examination

All Connecticut Bar Examination information can be found on the new CBEC website at https://ctbaradmissions.jud.ct.gov/

The application filing period for the February 2025 bar examination opens on Tuesday, October 1, 2024. The application for the February 2025 bar exam is an online application that can only be completed and submitted online through the Connecticut Bar Examining Committee’s new website at https://ctbaradmissions.jud.ct.gov/. Applicants must create a user account and apply for the exam on the new website. Applications will not be accepted by mail or in-person, and application forms from previous exams will not be accepted. The online application will be available beginning on October 1, 2024.

The February 2025 application deadlines and fees are listed below:

  • First day to file for February 2025 exam: October 1, 2024
  • First application filing deadline: (filing fee $800): October  31, 2024
  • Final application filing deadline: (filing fee $900): December 2, 2024
  • Non-standard testing petition filing deadline: December 2, 2024
  • Application filing fee: Payable online by credit card only
    • $800.00 if application filed October 1 – October 31, 2024
    • $900.00 if application filed November 1 – December 2, 2024

The Connecticut Bar Examining Committee was established in 1891. Practice Book Rule 2-3 provides for a Committee of twenty-four members charged with the responsibility of determining whether candidates are qualified to be admitted to the Connecticut bar. The Committee prepares and administers the bar examination and investigates the character and fitness of each candidate for admission. The Committee recommends to the court those who have passed the bar examination, possess good moral character, and have complied with the rules of court and the regulations of the Committee governing admission to the bar.
