04/09/2021 Notice regarding decisions on motions for extension of time - Effective April 12, 2021  
03/04/2021 Chief Justice Richard A. Robinson today announced that Carl Cicchetti will become Chief Clerk of the Supreme and Appellate Courts, effective April 1, 2021, succeeding Carolyn C. Ziogas, who is retiring. Attorney Cicchetti has served as an assistant clerk for the past 17 years and has also served on various Judicial Branch committees.  
02/24/2021 Beginning on March 1, 2021, Appellate Court oral arguments will be livestreamed on the Appellate Court’s YouTube channel.

12/04/2020 The Appellate Division has approved an optional program, which began on September 1, 2020, that allows for the filing of a more readable and functional electronic brief. These guidelines were created to assist filers who elect to participate in this program. For more information on this program, please see the Updated Guidelines for the Optional Electronic Brief Program.  
12/02/2020 On Tuesday, December 1, 2020, Governor Ned Lamont issued Executive Order No. 9O, ordering and directing the Resumption of Supreme Court and Appellate Court Requirements or Deadlines and Requirements and Deadlines related to Offers of Compromise. Executive Order No. 9O amends Executive Order No. 7G, Section 2, dated March 9, 2020, and extended by Executive Order No. 9L, Section 1, dated November 9, 2020, to provide that the suspension of the following requirements or deadlines shall expire upon a schedule to be determined by the Chief Court Administrator in consultation with the Chief Justice, but not later than December 15, 2020:

(1) as to the Supreme or Appellate Court only, all statutory time requirements, statutes of limitations or deadlines, including those governing Superior Court filings that affect Supreme or Appellate Court matters, relating to service of process, court proceedings or court filings,

(2) all statutory requirements or deadlines, including those governing Superior Court filings, related to the Supreme Court or the Appellate Court or their officials to issue notices, hold court, hear matters and/or render decisions, and

(3) all time requirements related to offers of compromise as set forth in General Statutes Sections §§ 52-192a and 52-193 through 52-195.
 
11/19/2020 Effective November 30, 2020, all oral arguments in the Supreme and Appellate Courts will be conducted virtually. Counsel of record will receive instructions from the Office of the Appellate Clerk on how to participate in their argument. To the extent possible, virtual hearings at the Supreme Court will be made available on the Supreme Court's YouTube Channel. Please note the audio for most hearings from Supreme and Appellate Court arguments, conducted in person or remotely, are available on the Oral Arguments Audio pages for the Supreme and Appellate Courts.

04/09/2020 Chief Justice Robinson has directed that, due to the spread of the COVID-19/Coronavirus, no appellate pre-argument conferences will be held through May 1, 2020.  
04/07/2020 Effective Monday, April 13, 2020, and until further notice, the hours of operation for the Office of the Appellate Clerk will be Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  
03/26/2020 Notice: In recognition of the public health emergency declaration issued by Governor Lamont, and due to the concern over the spread of the COVID19/Caronavirus, no oral arguments will be scheduled at the Appellate Court during the court's seventh term (April 6-April 24, 2020). With the agreement of all counsel of record, fully briefed and ready cases may be submitted for disposition based on the briefs, appendices and record, without oral argument. If possible, requests for disposition without oral argument should be filed with the Office of the Appellate Clerk by April 15, 2020. These requests must be filed as "Correspondence to Court Regarding Waiver of Oral Argument" which is listed under the "Preliminary Paper/Appeal Document" section in the Appellate E-filing.  
03/20/2020 Updated Notice from the Supreme Court and Appellate Court Please be advised that the time requirements for all Supreme and Appellate Court filings are suspended until further notice. Please see Governor Lamont's Executive Order, No. 7G, March 19, 2020. Due to staff shortage in the Office of the Appellate Clerk and in response to the COVID19 virus emergency, it is requested that no paper briefs be filed until further notice.

05/16/2018 Senior Associate Justice Richard N. Palmer has been appointed to the position of Administrative Justice for the Appellate Division, Chief Justice Richard A. Robinson announced today. In this role, Justice Palmer will oversee the division on all matters including personnel, budget, purchasing, facilities, security and information technology. 06/26/2017 The Judicial Branch is now posting online headnotes for both Supreme and Appellate Court opinions. These headnotes, which accompany individual Supreme and Appellate Court decisions, include a short summary of the ruling and the procedural history of a case. The Reporter of Judicial Decisions prepares the headnotes, which are not part of the opinion. As such, the opinion alone should be relied upon for the reasoning behind the decision.
